Jamie Yoo aka #savvyxinja is our Customer Experience Lead. She spends her day thinking about the single most important part of our (soon-to-be) bank: our Xinjas and their Xinja experience. Jamie runs weekly app testing sessions with our users (and soon-to-be customers), and in return for their feedback, we provide Xinja beer and snacks.
Jamie is a native Californian, adopted New Yorker, and is now a very happy Sydneysider. In another life #savvyxinja would have been either been Spanish or a horse.

Tell us what you do at Xinja
I’m Customer Experience Lead. So every day I place myself in our customers’ shoes and ask what they want and like and need. How can I help design and build a product that provides a satisfying, even delightful, experience? I feel passionate about tackling complex problems to produce fun, smart, effective solutions that improve people’s lives.
What is your Xinja origin story?
I first met Eric a couple years ago while working at a management consultancy. We kept in touch, and one day he unexpectedly threw this opportunity out to me and the timing happened to be perfect. As soon as he mentioned “disrupting banking” and “customer experience,” he had my ears.
What does a typical day look like for you?
No two days look the same, but each day involves listening to people, making meaningful and reasonable sense of things, and doing the next best thing!
What are you most proud of working with Xinja?
Being on the cutting edge of financial technology in Australia to bring about a change in banking! It’s important to me that we care to improve people’s lives qualitatively by offering financial products and services in smart, cool, fun, easy-to-use, and technologically savvy ways! 🙂
What have you learned in your time working at Xinja?
Pushing against the comfort zones and constantly working with the tensions of disruptive and safe, innovative and conservative, new and old – there is never an easy answer! But I love the challenge.
What are you most looking forward to in the coming months?
Getting the app in the hands of real people and customers, weighing their feedback, and improving the product over time to make it better and better.
What technology are you most excited about?
Am I allowed to say anything other than fintech? 🙂 I love smart, helpful, intuitive apps that improve my day-to-day functions.
If you weren’t at Xinja, what would you be doing?
Being disruptive (in a positive manner!) elsewhere!
List 3 words to describe Xinja?
Bold, smart, relevant
What is your Spirit Animal?
A wild horse. They’re beautiful and majestic, resilient and free!
Enjoying sports and good food and good wines. And of course, some “pamper me” time!
I can translate ancient Hebrew and Greek. And in another life, I probably could have been born Spanish!
